TechEd 2006 - a big week for IIS customers

    Jun 08, 2006 05:41 PM|bills|LINK

Are you going to be in Boston for TechEd 2006? The IIS team will be there in a big way. This year, there are a whopping 8 Breakout sessions and 9 chalktalks on IIS. The product group will be sending 13 team members and 4 MVPs to deliver presentations and answer customer questions on IIS. There will also be 4 guys at the big event from Microsoft.com Operations, giving customer an inside look at how one of the world’s most trafficked sites is managed on IIS.

Those arriving this weekend may be wondering what they can expect from the sessions on IIS. If you’ve already checked out the official TechEd 2006 site, then you may already know the session breakdown. During the week, there will be three breakouts for smart management of IIS6 including a session on IIS6 in Web farm scenarios and a session about using MOM with IIS6. In an effort to educate and excite customers about its upcoming release, there will be five breakouts dedicated to IIS7, including an opportunity for Program Manager, Chris Adams to present an excellent Overview of IIS7 twice during the conference. The other four sessions will drill deep into Administration, Configuration, Extensibility and Diagnostics which should enable administrators and developers to really start playing around with IIS7 in the copies of Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows Server “Longhorn” Beta 2 that they receive as conference attendees

A new feature of TechEd called the Technical Learning Center (TLC), offers a dedicated area for attendees to explore the technologies of a particular conference track. For example, IIS and ASP.NET will be featured in the Web Development TLC. At the TLC, there are demo stations, Hands-On-Labs, a discussion lounge as well as a Chalktalk room. The team is very excited about having a TLC because it means customers have a one-stop shop where they can get all their IIS questions answered. In addition, the speakers have a place where they can go to answer spillover questions after their breakouts have ended. The IIS Chalktalks which also occur at the TLC should be a great resource for gaining additional information not fully covered or explained during the breakouts.

On the topic of chalktalks, IIS.net is proud to give you the first *full* schedule of all the IIS sessions at TechEd, including the chalktalks (below). We have some very good speakers from the product group this year, so be sure to fit as many of these sessions in as you can. In addition, if you have to miss a Breakout or if you are just unable to attend the conference, IIS.net will provide videos and slides for each session soon after TechEd ends. So if you are missing TechEd, we’ve got you covered. But if you will be there, go to the IIS sessions and be sure to stop by the TLC and meet the IIS team members – they are all very excited to meet you and hear what you think about IIS.
