    Hi,

We have hosted our WordPress website using windows server 2012. We are using VPS cloud plan. The link is https://www.efacility.in/demo-wp/. This has high TTFB. This is just a default WP source with total cache plugin and nothing more than that. So the TTFB should not be high.

We checked with WP forum, they said that at the WordPress level apart from configuring cache plugin we cannot do anything else and need to check with hosting support. Ref link: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/high-ttfb/

We checked with our hosting support and they said that there is no issues in hosting server side

Could you please suggest what may be reasons for this

    Thanks

    1. Use a supported PHP version, as anything older than 7.2 is obsolete.
    2. Warm up the application pool if necessary. TTFB is usually high for Windows/IIS, as warming up the pool/PHP FastCGI process can take a significant amount of time.
    3. Ensure your VPS plan is using high performance hardware (SSD for instance), as a slow machine of course can lead to high TTFB.

If the overall performance is OK, and just high TTFB, personally I don't even think that's a problem. With CDN such as Cloudflare in front, the actual user experience won't be that slow.

    HI,

Thanks for your reply. We will check the suggested points.

To check TTFB alone we created this demo https://www.efacility.in/demo-wp.  The actual web site is http://www.efacility.in/.

We are already using PHP 7 and CDN. We are trying to improve the speed of http://www.efacility.in/.

Currently this loads in 7 to 8 seconds. We are trying the possibility to load this in 3 to 4 seconds.

    Could you please suggest

will it be good to move to Linux server

or can we retain in windows server itself and try to fine tune.

    Hi,

When it comes to WordPress sites, there are several different factors that can affect TTFB:

    Network latency

    High web traffic

    Server configuration and performance

    Dynamic content

    DNS response time

As I can see your site has lots of images and dynamic content. it may cause slow loading. did you enable dynamic compression in iis? Use caching,Use Cloudflare and/or a Content Delivery Network (CDN),Disable any plugins you’re not using.

You could refer this below link for more detail:

    HI,

    Thanks for your reply.

IIS compression is enabled. Default WP site also shows high TTFB. Link is https://www.efacility.in/demo-wp. This just has the default plugins and themes and nothing more than that. I will try to reduce the content and images.

Also, I checked using https://tools.keycdn.com/performance?url=https://www.efacility.in/. In Bangalore it takes 2.9s. Please suggest do we have any issues in that location. Reference: https://prnt.sc/qqp2az. I am from India. So probably mine will be from Bangalore
