  • Non Visual Studio project publish to remote IIS

I have an Angular application that is deployed in my remote IIS. Say Default Web Site\demo is my application.  I have installed web deploy 3.5 on that target machine.

I want to deploy from a client machine using web deploy that is a Bamboo build server. I have option scripting PS or cmd. Any suggestions for that?

Web Deploy on the server side only gives you two options,

    • Create a Web Deploy package ZIP package (VS or MSBuild).
    • Or sync from a local IIS instance.

So in general if you don't want any VS installation there, you must install IIS on the build machine, and use PowerShell to configure the local site and sync to the remote machine.

    Thanks!

I see IIS sync would be a viable option for this. Just to get clear, I have package in zip which I built using node.js (angular app) shall I ship that package using scripts (for web deploy)?

Again it's not a VS project.

Unfortunately, Web Deploy uses a ZIP package format that's poorly documented and might not be the way you packaged your own ZIP. That's why I said above you need a local site and then sync remotely.
