I tried to follow these instructions from Server 2008 because I couldn't find anything newer and it messed up the site and made it unusable.
What are the correct steps to have make http://servername.domain.com/printers available when a user types in http:/print.domain.com?
Also, is there any way to make the Connect links to add printers work with Microsoft Edge and/or Chrome? I noticed the Connect link only shows when loaded in Internet Explorer.

If you want that when user type 'http:/print.domain.com' then it should open the page 'http://servername.domain.com/printers' then you can try to use URL Rewrite in IIS.
URL Rewrite allows Web administrators to easily build powerful rules using rewrite providers written in .NET, regular expression pattern matching, and wildcard mapping to examine information in both URLs and other HTTP headers and IIS server
variables. Rules can be written to generate URLs that can be easier for users to remember, simple for search engines to index, and allow URLs to follow a consistent and canonical host name format. URL Rewrite further simplifies the rule creation process with
support for content rewriting, rule templates, rewrite maps, rule validation, and import of existing mod_rewrite rules.
<rule name="Rewrite to article.aspx">
<match url="^print.domain.com$" />
<action type="Rewrite" url="servername.domain.com/printers"/>

Will that work if the "print" is a DNS alias to "servername?"

You need to add it to both DNS and in IIS rule.
Then it can work.
It should get correct url while matching with the rule.
