I've just migrated to a new dev machine, and when I launch my ASP.NET application, it starts fine, including Session_Start being called, and displays the WebForms login form (legacy, I know). But as soon as I click anywhere on that webpage, iisexpress terminates
with exit code -1 (0xffffffff). It seems to skip both Session_End and Application_End, as not output is generated in the Output panel, from my
Any idea what might be happening or how I can research it? I'm unable to find anything useful on the web.

I found that nothing is written in the %IIS_USER_HOME%\Logs or %IIS_USER_HOME%\TraceLogFiles folders at the time iisexpress terminates. Stuff is written there when the application starts and the login page is loaded, but not when I click the user name box,
which then causes iizexpress to terminate.
I also enabled break on ALL exceptions in the debugger and the debugger does not break, so apparently there's no exception, at least none that the debugger can detect.
I have not yet tried sniffing the HTTP traffic between browser and server.

Can you inform us which version of Visual Studio and IIS you are using?
I also want to confirm with you that, did you got a message like below?
If yes, Then it will not hit any break points.
If we talk about error message then I suggest you to copy the actual project and try to run it on your new machine.
Check whether it work or not.
I also suggest you to try to make a test with other browsers and see if it works properly or not.
It will help us to narrow down the issue.
Further, I try to contact the Visual Studio Forum and they had conform that this issue is related with their forum.
So I suggest you to close this thread and create a new thread in forum below.
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

I changed some options in the project: trying Chrome rather than FF, disable debug and continue, change start option from "current page" to "specific page" (index page) as well as "start URL" (also index page).
The problem vanished!
Today I tried again to reset the options to what I think they were originally, but still no problem.
Anyway, I'll drop this thread for now. Will revive in the forum you suggested if it reoccurs.
