I installed an SSL certificate today on a windows server 2008. When I bind the https 443 port with the certificate, it crashes the website. I imported the certificate into Sonic Wall but still it doesn't work. I am not sure what I am missing. Every indication
in Sonic Wall says once I import the certificate & it says validate that is all I need to do. Could something on the server be causing it to crash? Once I remove the binding, the website starts.

First make sure the cert works correctly. e.g. try it with a static "hello world" page.
Not sure enabling a valid ssl cert can make IIS crash.
Maybe you have code that explicitly says it needs to be http, etc. check references to hard coded links in your configs.

it crashes the website
That's not a good way to describe the actual issue, and you must tell clearly what happened.
Besides, you might run SSL Diagnostics to see if any suspicious can be found, https://www.jexusmanager.com/en/latest/tutorials/ssl-diagnostics.html
