Why are sites missing from connection pane, when they do exist?

Windows server 2012 R2 - IIS V8.5.9600.16384
When I expand the triangle next to Sites in the Connections Pane on the left of IIS Manager, I should see
Default website on port 80 & two other sites running on port 111 & 112. But they do not show here. When I click
Sites, then the list of 3 sites does show in the main IIS central pane.
I have also noticed that the Content View in IIS Manager that should show the actual folders for the site(s) is also empty
All the other servers do not do this. On them the list of sites is in the Connections pane. How do I make sure this happens

Did you set something in configuration file directly? I met the similar issue when I edit the configuration file by mistake. Then when I change Value back and open the IIS manager, the triangle missing all sites. However, I can fix it by reboot the server.
Maybe you could backend and reinstall IIS.
