I am migrating some simple asp and asp.net apps from Server 2008R2 to a fresh install of Server 2016.
I did the following:
When I'm on the server, I'm able to right-click on the application and select
Manage Application->Browse and it works great. http://webserver/myappfolder/Default.asp works great.
However when I'm on a client computer and try to visit
http://webserver/myappfolder or even
http://webserver/myappfolder/Default.asp I receive a 404 error. I have tested a variant of
and it works great. It doesn't appear to be a permissions/bindings/dns issue, but for some reason it won't execute an asp file when a client is accessing.
Any ideas on how to resolve?

You'll need to check the full status code (including sub-status) in order to determine what is going on here :

What the substatus code is? 404.0 or 404.3? Please check the IIS log.Just ensure the ASP module has been installed in turn windows features on or off ->world wide web service->application development features->ASP has been enabled. Secondly, just ensure
the file is displayed in myappfolder and user has permission to access the file. If it is not a URL location issue, you only need to check the IIS log and provide the substatus code.

Thank you Paul and Yuk. I followed Paul's links and learned how to use the log to identify the substatus code. It was 404.3. I followed Yuk's advice and turned on ASP. This solved the problem.
Thank you both!
