    Hi there,

I'm a newby to IIS so don't know much, I've developed a website in VS 2015 and runs perfectly, tried to deploy to an

IIS server (Windows 2008 R2, IIS 7) connecting to the same SQL Server database. I'm now getting an error 500 which means that I can't connect to the database, error:  login failed for user 'IIS APPPOOL\ASP.NET v4.0', tried adjusting permissions to the database which further screwed things up. Any ideas how to configure IIS APPPOOL\ASP.NET v4.0 to get round this issue.

    Thanks,   Andy

    Hi Andy,

This blog should provide the steps needed to walk you through adding the application pool identity for SQL server access.

Sorry about the contrived message Terri, this seems a severe drawback to asp mvc since even deploying a simple

site seems fraught with horrendous complexity!
