    <div class="msgBody wrapWord fullMessage">

    Hello everyone,

I'm having a really strange issue with the IIS FTP server.

The idea is i need to send pictures from a Cognex camera to an FTP server hosted by IIS.

The camera succedes to connect to the FTP server but fails the store the file.

The STOR command is followed by a 550 error code that would mean there is an authentication error but my FTP is configured properly and the user im using to connect to FTP has full access on the FTP folder.

The strange thing is i manged to send i file to the FTP by using command prompt from another server.

Also i tried installing Filezilla on my server and sending pictures from the camera to filezilla (same root folder, same user/password) and it worked but filezilla is not an option. We need to use the windows FTP.

Any ideas what am i missing? I'm really running out of ideas on what to try.

Bellow is a portion of the log with the 550 error.

    Hi alexcoman,

Have you created the allow authorization rule with read/write permission for your user? Besides, you could try to allow .jpg and STOR command in FTP request filter.

The server side applicationhost.config probably have some FTP configuration which is blocking your site node permission.

You could also enable the process monitor to diagnose this issue.

Please check whether firewall or anti-virus is blocking the write command.

    Hi Yuk,

It doesnt look like a authorization/allow issue because sending from another server worked.

Here are a few things i tried recently.

I put my laptop in the camera network and tried to send an jpg file to the server through FTP using command prompt -Worked, so the there is not a slow network issue.

I set the FTP server to store the partially updated files - I tried again to send the file from the camera and i can see the files with the correct name and file type but they have 0 bytes and in the log we have the same 550 error.

I'm starting to think this might be an issue with the way the camera sends the files and not the FTP server itself. Although using Filezilla was ok.

    Thank you,

    Coman Alex

    Hi alex,

The 550 error could be an permission issue. you could check whether the client could rewrite to your FTP correctly. Then you could check whether there is something wrong with the way your camera used to send files.
