IIS 7 and Above
IIS 10.0 in Windows 10 Pro

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Win7. After doing so, my local WAMPserver installation stopped working because IIS10.0 is using port 80, the same port configured for the Apache part of WAMP.
I redirected Apache to another port (via httpd.conf) but this didn't really work for me - I have too many websites with hard coded links and changing them all to reflect the new localhost port would take some time. It was much easier to just disable the
IIS service via services.msc.
I don't really understand why IIS was enabled in my Windows 10 installation apart from possibly something to do with HTTP2?? So my question is "Will disabling IIS in a Windows 10 Client have any long lasting effects?" I don't think I had
it installed in Windows 7 - Apache was working on port 80 before I upgraded to 10. So I assume IIS is part of Windows 10. Microsoft Edge seems to be working although I don't use that as my browser of choice so it doesn't really matter to me if it doesn't.
Would appreciate any insights as to why IIS10 is lurking.

It sounds like you enabled IIS during the upgrade. You can disable it by going to Programs and Features. Click on Turn Windows features on or off. Uncheck Internet Information Services and also Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core if it is checked.
Click OK to remove those applications.

This also happened to me. The service was OFF before the upgrade and the service is enabled after the update automatically.
There is also another problem with how services are handled in windows 10 upgrade. See http://superuser.com/questions/948023/windows-10-upgrade-modifies-apache-service-by-adding-an-n-in-service-script
These both need to be fixed ASAP!

@terridonahue, I didn't enable it knowingly. I always go for a custom install if given the choice and check settings but don't remember seeing one for that. Will keep my eyes peeled next time. Thanks for the removal instructions, I will see if anything breaks
with the service disabled and remove later.
@blasto333, thanks for the heads up on that service alteration, will bear that in mind.
