We are pleased to announce the availability of the Microsoft Smooth Streaming Client 2.5 with MPEG DASH support. This release adds the ability to parse and play MPEG DASH manifests in the Smooth Streaming Media Engine (SSME) to provide a Windows7/Windows8
and MacOS solution using MPEG DASH for On-Demand scenarios. Developers that wish to move content libraries to DASH will now have the option of using DASH in places where Silverlight is supported.
This version is available for download from MS Download Center –

Posted directly on your blog entry and then saw that questions should be directed here.
Mpeg-Dash seems to be gaining acceptance but all the Microsoft documentation talks only about Windows Azure. Can you clarify Microsoft's position with regard to streaming Mpeg-Dash from IIS?
I refer you to http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Build/2013/3-089

Getting Started-What You need
4. Delivery Server (eg IIS, Windows Azure Media Services)
which seems to indicate this should be an option.

We are using Smooth Streaming Client 2.5 RTW in our WP8.0 application and we hit some issues.
The main problem for us is that buffering state is never set. If internet connection is slow, the last buffered frame continues to display and CurrentStateChanged event is never fired. I can see that player is in playing state. I can not handle Buffering
state with loading spinner.
I've asked for help on msdn forum with no success. Do you have any suggestion how to solve this? Here is link to my post on msdn forum:

Hi, seems that in version 2.5 there's a problem with the ISmoothStreamingCache.
if we use the 2.0 version of the IIS smooth streaming client we're able to playback an offline smooth streaming content, with the version 2.5 the player throw an error (3222).
Someone can help us to understand the problem?

Is there any documentation available for this version of the Microsoft Smooth Streaming Client?
The only documentation I can find is for the Microsoft Smooth Streaming Client 2.0.

When will IIS support DASH? Will the smooth streaming extension be extended :)

Same document applies to this version. There is no difference except the MPEG-DASH support.

Our MPEG-DASH development focus is over
Azure Media Services. You can use Azure Media Services dynamic packaging feature to get MPEG-DASH output.
