I added the FTP publishing service and made it active and set it to Auto. Restarted the Server but still no option to Add FTP Site or manage it off of the Sites folder in IIS Manager 6.
It does list an FTP sites List folder though under the server name, and a separate browser pops up to manipuale it but I have no way of associating it with one of my sites.
I try to log in with FTP and I kist get a cannot retrieve directory listing error
Still I mainly want this to work so I can Add a FTP site from the website listings.

If you would like IIS Manager on Windows Server 2003 to behave just like IIS Manager on newer Windows releases, you hit a dead end.
There is no way to associate an FTP site to a web site in IIS 6, and you have to manage them separately as you have noticed.

Your reply was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Also, I am actually using Windows Datacenter 2008 Service Pack 2 server so I probabaly have the option to use IIS7. I will see if I can install it.

Actualy, I am sorry, I am using IIS 7 and the this is where I am initially viewing the FTP List under the server.
The FTP List tells me to open IIS 6 manager though.
There is no way to add an FTP site in IIS 7 and it forces me to go into the IIS6 manager.
Note:: I think I figured out I have to upgrade to version IIS 7.5 to get it to work in Decade Newer IIS.
Again, Server Manager is not clear on stuff like this so it confuses the hell out of you.

I am able now to access the directory by using Active mode and selecting Allow through the Firewall but when I get into the directrory it is emptyand not the one I selected as the FTP directroy in IIS.
I am using the correct domain.

Please go through the articles under
and learn about the new FTP 7 settings. If Active mode works while passive mode fails, you should have not yet set firewalls properly.
About the directory access, you will have to utilize Process Monitor and see if you have forgotten to set the NTFS permissions.
