  • Can I change the IIS Express configuration

    Hi,

I have a problem, when I try to debug a website via IIS Express Visual Studio tells me that it could not start the IIS Express. In fact the IIS Express is running but I guess that VS could not establish a connection. When I try the same with another User it works perfectly. The only difference between my usser account and the other account is that the "My Documents"-path is redirected to a path on a fileserver. The "My Documents"-path of the other account is the default value on the harddisk. So I guess the problem is that the path of my account is redirected to the fileserver.

And now my question: Can I change the configuration of IIS Express so that he does not use the "My Documents" path for creating the IISExpress folder?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

    Hi,

Have you looked at the IIS Net IIS Express guides http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/860/iis-express/ ?

You can start with the command-prompt version to control many IIS Express settings.

In the current IIS Express release there is no way to change the configuration file location. Next release of IIS Express would provide a way (a registry key) to set the default configuration file location.

     Hi,

thanks for your answer. That's bad. Is there already a release date for the next release?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

You can install the latest beta from http://www.webmatrix.com/next

(when you install WebMatrix2 Beta, it also installs latest IIS EXpress)
