We are looking to deploy the Advanced Logging Module on our Exchange servers in order to capture access to 4 pages related to log-in attempts and log-off

Before we move forward we have some concerns from the E-Mail admins regarding Performance hits the servers may experience.

Each server currently returns about 90000 - 200000 logs per hour

Currently we have the raw IIS logs sent to a syslog server and we are getting all the irrelevant get requests, we would like to filter the logs on the server before we forward them ... unless the performance hit is too great.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Sean

There will be additional overhead for adv logging, however it is very hard to see the performance impact without knowing the baseline usage and the performance after it was turn on. if the current usage has no bottleneck on the resources, then turn it of for an hour or two just to see the usage trend. or best if you can simulate a stress test on a lab environment with 'similar' hardware spec of the prod box to see how well the box can take the load.
