Thanks, Mic I will answer it myself in case anyone else has the same brain numbing problem the "MIME type" I used were "application/asp" and "application/aspx" so far they seem to be working well, as much as I would like to tell you how disgruntled I am about the fact that they are not there by DEFAULT as it is a DEFAULT website! Thanks again Mic.

    Hi,

If you provide the version of IIS server your using it would help.

If your getting error messages for .asp, .aspx pages post the messages & Status Sub status code(s).

If your getting 404 errors check http://blogs.iis.net/tomkmvp/archive/2009/04/27/troubleshooting-a-404.aspx .

Is your problem(s) with execution of  .asp, .aspx pages ?

It might be that you need to run the "aspnet_regiis.exe" Tool

    MSDN page  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/k6h9cz8h.aspx#findingthecorrectversion  information.

     Well thanks Martin

I'm sorry I had to ask!

The IIS seems user unfriendly to Visual studio products!

yes my problem was with the

execution of  .asp, .aspx pages but more specifically with the MIME type of the pages

previous versions of IIS7 that I used did not require that I enter MIME type only file extension!

so I guessed and it worked

    I dislike having to guess!

what I fail to understand is why a microsoft webpage extension such as asp or aspx are not already installed in the MIME type of IIS

after all if someone was to want to build their own webpage it would stand to reason that they would probably want to run their own webpage aswell!

    sorry to be a bother

I will continue guessing my way and hope I don't shut the whole thing down!

Thankyou and sorry to waste your time.

    Hello,

No time waste the Forums are the place to ask questions. You never said which version of IIS Server.

If you look at http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/136/install-typical-iis-workloads/ Work Flow for IIS 7.0

for installing Internet Information Services problems

might be related to which  "Features Turned on off" as part of the installation vs Visual Studio installation.

The Dot Net Framework versions 1.1, 2.0,3.0,.3.5sp1,4.0 installs and updates might change the settings for mime types and

            extension mapping on IIS Server.

When having problems with Visual Studio and IIS Server running the "aspnet_regiis.exe" for Dot Net Framework will

          help to fix the problems.

If you make changes Features and IIS Server you can check C:\Windows\iis7.log.  or C:\Windows\iis6.log

    The iisX.logs might provide insight.

You can also check  %systemdir%\Users\YourName\Appdata\Temp for the configuration changes in asp*.log.

The asp*.log has information that you may find of use.

    HTH

They should have been.  This suggest there was somehting wrong with the installation. I have never had to manually make these entries. : )
