I have a production version of an intranet site running on Windows Server 2003 w/ IIS 6.0. It's using Windows Authentication, and seems to run fine.
I also have a development copy of the same ASP.net intranet site checked out and running on my local Windows 7 Professional machine w/ IIS 7.5. Windows Authentication doesn't work at all. When accessing the dev copy, I'm repeatedly asked for credentials
until I'm eventually redirected to a 401.1 Unauthorized.
I've followed this documentation to install Windows Authentication...
Digest authentication (instead of windows authentication) seems to sort of work, however it constantly re-prompts for credentials on almost every request for anything (js, img, etc).
Our active directory lives on a Windows Server 2003 w/ domain functional level: Windows Server 2003, and Forest functional level: Windows 2000 (not sure if that's of any help)
I have two questions...

Have you configured IE to pass credentials? You need to add your web site domain/IP/URL/whatever to the intranet security zone in IE for it to allow credentials to be released.

Please check if Automatic logon only in Intranet zone which is the default value in IE is set up.
