  • Parsing IIS6 ETW Trace on Windows 7

I'm trying to process an IIS6/ASP.NET ETW Trace on a Windows 7 computer. I have the following error message:

Error parsing query: Cannot find provider of event "{d42cf7ef-de92-473e-8b6c-621ea663113a}" [The WMI data provider could not be located.]

Please note that the "IIS6 Management Compatibility" Feature is installed on the Windows 7 computer.

It turns out that this is the provider "IIS: WWW Server" ({3a2a4e84-4c21-4981-ae10-3fda0d9b0f83}) that is missing from the Windows 7 computer. If the provider is not turned on during the trace session (leaving ASP.NET events) this is working fine.

Is it possible to install this provider and associated MOF file to a Windows 7 computer ?

    Any help appreciated.

    TIA.

    Found the solution.

Please make sure that the "IIS Management Service" feature is installed on the machine.
