    Hi,

I am using ASP and Sql server 2000. The time taken to load the home page contents, takes a longer time as the database fetching gets around 2000 records. When the StoredProcedure is executed in the query analyzer, it takes hardly 2 seconds to fetch the data, but showing it in the ASP page, takes around 12 seconds..

What can be done to improve the ASP performance.

    Thank you

We might be able to give specific tips if you share some of your code with us.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for the reply.

When the page is loading, a stored procedure is executed and which returns around 2000 records.

These records are shown in the html table. So the Page load takes longer time.

The javascript function "changeStudents" is called in body onload.

    Thank you

Do you really need to do that?  Are 2000 records on a page even useable by a human?

    Hi,

I have a dropdownbox in the page, which lists the college names. Depending on the college, only those college details are shown. The javascript function, which i had provided, is on the onchange event of the dropdownbox.

Sorry for not providing this information.

    Thank you

If you are loading all of the data/details in one shot, you might want to consider just loading the college names, and when the dropdown changes, have the form post and then retrieve the details for that college.

    Hi,

On the onchange event, how to call the stored procedure.

    You can't.

In javascript you have to fire a form.submit from the dropdown onchange event handler.

You would then have your asp code call the stored procedure.  This all requires a change in logic for your asp.
