Every other week I get the following crash:
Faulting application php-cgi.exe, version 18.104.22.168, time stamp 0x4b8ecac5, faulting module php_wincache.dll, version 1.1.427.0, time stamp 0x4bd620f4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00009a30, process id 0x1680, application start time 0x01caf02faeb1fcb9.
Whenever this happens I have to manually restart the IIS web service (the app pool would probably be sufficient) before any requests will be handled.

Thank you for reporting the crash. I have filed a bug at
http://pecl.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=17508. Please monitor this. We may have additional question and we will get back to you in that case.

Thank you. I wish I could provide a crash dump but I don't have one yet :-(

Keep trying. Crash dump will be really useful. BTW are you hosting any popular PHP application or it is your own home grown application?
Were you getting the crash for previous version too or this is something new?

We are using popular applications as IPB (Invision Board) as well as many custom developed applications (CMS, SOAP web services etc).
I don't know if I got this particular crash in previous versions since I haven't been using beta1 of version 1.1 long enough. The crashes are very rare and didn't happen again until now.
I'm really sorry that I cannot be of more help.

It's okay if you do not have crash dump. But whenever a crash happens please take a look at the Windows Wvent Viewer under Application category and see if there is report for php-cgi.exe crash with respect to php_wincache.dll. Copy paste the report here.
It is not of greatest help, but still something is better than nothing. Helps us at least locating the line of code which crashed though not the reason. And we can match it with previous event viewer result to see if the crash is happening at same location
again and again.

Just got the exact same crash again:
Faulting application php-cgi.exe, version 22.214.171.124, time stamp 0x4b8ecac5, faulting module php_wincache.dll, version 1.1.427.0, time stamp 0x4bd620f4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00009a30, process id 0xd0c, application start time 0x01cafc826c659482.
I'm not quite sure why Windows doesn't list this crash under "Problems Reports and Solutions". What is the best way to catch these dumps? With Debug Diagonistic 1.1 I can only attach the debug service to the application pool or to a specific process.

Hm another crash, different fault offset:
Faulting application php-cgi.exe, version 126.96.36.199, time stamp 0x4b8ecac5, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e03821, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000666ab, process id 0x1648, application start time 0x01cb0298a3bd6db8.

Thanks for reporting these crashes. The latest crash was not in php_wincache.dll. So this seems like a PHP bug. I am investigating other two crashes which happened in wincache code.

But the outcome was the same as the with the other crashes, IIS stopped serving any php request after that.
The details in the event only shows the address at the top of the stack, so I do not think you can be sure that it is not caused/related to wincache (e.g. wincache.dll calls a function from ntdll.dll).

I have made a change to fix this issue. As I don't have a repro, would you be able to deploy the latest privates and see if you hit the crash?

Yep of course ;-) Please send me the file.

We are suffering this exact same issue, although the application in question is bespoke.
Faulting application php-cgi.exe, version 188.8.131.52, time stamp 0x4b8ecac5, faulting module php_wincache.dll, version 1.1.427.0, time stamp 0x4bd620f4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00004c9f, process id 0x1054, application start time 0x01cb661124267dc5.
Was there any resolution to this?
Sorry in case it is significant,
We seem to get a repeat of the crash upon resetting iis, for a few times, before normal operation returns, which can then run stable for hours before seeing a repeat.

I have installed the latest build and will report back how things progress.
