Wrong link from iis.net for windows 2008 evaluation software

    Dec 04, 2009 04:20 PM|Rovastar|LINK

On the IIS.site on the first tab "Overview. What is IIS?"

The main text there regarding the trail says:

Try it Now: Evaluate IIS 7.0 today, with a free 180-day trial edition of Windows Server 2008.

    with a link to:

Which is the Windwos 2008R2 evaulation that has IIS 7.5!

Also there are extensive references all over the site to IIS7.0 from all the main tabs.

    For example:

IIS 7.0 is built with a completely modular architecture, on top of rich extensibility APIs. This enables you to easily add, remove and even replace built-in IIS 7.0 components with custom modules, specifically suited for customer needs. Use only what you need...

    Planning Your IIS 7.0 Architecture

    etc, etc

As the current latest shipping version is IIS 7.5 either change the reference to IIS 7 or 7.x (not 7.0) or something. It is misleading to people and you need to have a consistant policy of your naming convention of the version of the software that the whole site is dedicated too that otherwise confusion will arise.

This look especailly bad as you have recently relaunched the site and these errors are there. Do you actually look at the site at all?

I still expect this will fall on deaf ears like many other of my suggestions in the feedback forum. Sometime I wonder why it is here at all.......
