    I'm trying use the rewrite module with a Office Sharepoint web to create a rule to so I can have friendly urls without the /Pages/ and can use some help getting started on my first rule.

    If I follow how it works, I want is to take a friendly url like http://mysite/mypage.aspx and rewrite it on the server as http://mysite/Pages/mypage.aspx

    I beleive what I need is a pattern like
             (.*/)(\w*\.aspx)

    I add a condition of {REQUEST_FILE} Is not a File (since asp.net apps can live under the same IIS web so I want to leave their urls alone).
    A rewrite action with the rewrite url of
            {R:1}Pages/{R:2}

    But alas when I try this I get a 404 not found.

    Looks like this pattern will not match the http://mysite/mypage.aspx. Try changing the pattern to (\w+\.aspx) and the substitution url to Pages/{R:1}.

    The reason the pattern will not match is because it requires at least one slash before the filename. However the rule will get "mypage.aspx" as an input and that will not match.
