    Does this happen with a hello world asp page, too? For example:

    <%=Now%>

    Can you have a look at the following articles?

    http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/559/running-classic-asp-applications-on-iis-70-and-iis-75/

    Hope this helps

    Thank you for replying

    <%=Now%> works

    Set rsProducts_cmd = CreateObject ("ADODB.Command") works

    but

    Set rsProducts_cmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command") fails

    with the result shown in the error log extract shown in the first entry and the message error '8002801d'

    Searching for reasons for the HTTP 500 - Internal server error message I have just found Article ID: 842329 When you try to view an ASP page after you have installed Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 (SP6), you may receive the following error message in your Web browser window: HTTP 500 - Internal server error

    I do have Visual Basic 6 with SP6 installed, but before I installed that I did read the Visual Basic page where they say that VB6 can be used on VISTA. But I do have VB6 with SP6 on my XP computer and there is no problem on the XP computer

    In comparing my Registry settings and permsisions on the Vista Computer and XP computer in the TypeLib entry for ADODB.Command on the XP computer there are User names and permissions, on the Vista computer there are no user names or permissions.

    For the CLSID entry the user names and permmissions are simialr

    In the Registry for D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8 there are no User names or Groups and no permissions are set - do I add User Names and Permissions in the registry?

    For  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8}\2.0 the data entry is Microsoft Active Server Pages Object Library

    For  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8}\3.0 when you click on it you get an error massage 3.0 cannot be opened An Error is preventing this key from being opened Details Access is denied Are you able to tell me how to solve that problem?

    Found how to fix that problem but now have this from Process Monitor and stll have  error '8002801d'

    Operation:          RegOpenKeyResult:  ACCESS DENIEDPath:     HKCR\TypeLib\{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8}\3.0\0\win32

    Checked this information, but the Global.asa does not have these entries

     Active Server Pages Appear Blank in the Web Browser article Q224418

    Edit the Global.asa for the Web site experiencing the problem and look for the following or similar metadata tags:

    <div class=kb_codecontent>
    <!--METADATA TYPE="TypeLib" NAME="Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.0 Library" UUID="{00000200-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}" VERSION="2.0"-->
    <!--METADATA TYPE="TypeLib" NAME="Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects Recordset 2.0 Library" UUID="{00000300-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}" VERSION="2.0"-->
    <!--METADATA TYPE="TypeLib" NAME="Microsoft Active Server Pages Object Library" UUID="{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8}" VERSION="2.0"-->
    To determine whether you are experiencing this problem, remove any of the above tags if they are present, as well as any additional metadata tags from the Global.asa, and then try browsing ASP pages.

    This problem is caused by having an older version of Windows Scripting environment installed on the WWW server.
    I have UUID="{00000200-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}" VERSION="2.0"--> and
    UUID="{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8}" VERSION="2.0"
    But under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D97A6DA0-A85C-11CF-83AE-00A0C90C2BD8} there are sub keys 2.0 and 3.00 but clicking on 3 says cannot be opened access denied
    The article gives the solution as To resolve this issue please obtain the latest version of the Windows Scripting environment and download the latest version for your platform but what is the latest version of Windows Scripting ?
