Generally speaking, IIS generates such event log records to outline that this application is unhealthy.
It is hard to describe a one-for-all solution in a few words, but if you like, contact Microsoft Support hotline to open a case. An expert will help you identify the "criminal".

Hi!
I'm facing an odd error occurring sporadically on different servers on a web farm (about 1 time a week randomly on any server).
EVENT ID: 1012
"A process serving application pool X exceeded time limits during start up. The process id was Y. "
This is event is fired when the iis is already hung up, before it, you may have this chain of events 1074, 1013, 1010
Because this error the iis stop working until a iisreset with the consecuence of having clients very upset.
Can anyone give a clue at least where to start in order yo get rid of this issue?
Servers are Windows 2003 Web Edition Service Pack 2
Thanks!
Claudio
