I am new here, but I am hoping that someone will be able to shed some light on an issue that I am having.
On Server 2003 machine the World Wide Web Service will continously stop and start. I know this is not normal behavior. This machine is part of a network with other Server 2003 machines which have IIS running with internally hosted web pages as well(i.e.
sharepoint) so I am able to compare the way that services are configured, etc... and I have set them the same as the other machines that are running normally. In the event viewer under the system category, the messages look something like...
"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service was successfully sent a stop control." Event ID 7035
"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service entered the stopped state." Event ID 7036
"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service was successfully sent a start control." Event 7035
"The World Wide Web Publishing Service service entered the running state." Event ID 7036
All of this will be about seconds apart and will repeat itself about every minute to two minutes

Can you check what all 3rd party applications/services running on this box?
Open msconfig and disable all 3rd party services. If the issue does not happen after disabling, then enable 3rd party services one by one and then find out which one is causing this issue.
From experience, I have seen this is mostly related to 3rd party services.
