I've tried now for the 50th time to use FTP service but I've failed.
Constantly I get 530 error.... I've followed exact instructions but it didn't help.
I've added auth providers, user, added user allow rules, passwords, ftp sites, checked app pool... everything is normal and default...
Is there some known problem?

what ftp mode you using ? isolation? user is IIS Manager or Windows? you need to provide more info, and app pool got no relationship with ftp.
next - 530 if it is directory in accessible - you can try filemon to trace where FTP is sending the user to and look at related permission issue.

Also, are you using the FTP server that ships with OS or the out-of-band flavor available from
The out-of-band FTP server supports ETW tracing that could help you to narrow down your problem.
FTP server also support detailed local errors (when you check the response from the server on the local client, you will likely get more detailed reason what failed).

Do you restart the service? (That was my failed some weeks ago :) )
Next you can test you firewall. disable the firewall for a moment and then try to connect.
