I'm running SBS 2003 SP1 and I'm an IIS noob. I recently installed a number of "updates" from Microsoft (that'll teach me...), but have not yet made the leap to R2. Now when I attempt to access the backup monitor within the server admin tool, it refuses
to display the page and generates an event 1062 in the event viewer, which complains about running two different versions of ASP.NET inside a single IIS process. Before accepting these updates everything was fine, but now I can't figure out what to do. There
are multiple application pools already established, but I didn't set up this server and don't really know what the heck I'm doing. I tried swtiching my "default web site" to use version ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0, but that didn't work and now I'm just flailing with
the application pool settings.

Create a New Application in IIS and assign it to your application from properties of the web site in IIS.
