My friend has a small website with static pages (very basic html). I am helping to make it look a little more professional (and I mean a little, just some horizontal menus, format changes, etc). I am no expert (my past life was a mainframe programmer with
some experience coding ASP pages), but, I can read code. I was changing the pages to ASP (I know it should be ASP.NET) but, I am going with what I know. I wanted to put a search box on th site. I was using the free version of Zoom Search and had ran into
a problem. I was getting "ActiveX component can't create object Scripting.FileSystemObjectsearch". So, I googled the problem and someone suggested using KB917344 to fix the problem. Idiot that I am, I didn't run an image copy of my laptop before running
the fix. Well after running the fix, I am getting "Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0201'" error. I have vbscript set as the scripting language. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling IIS and installing XP SP3. I am still getting the error. Any suggestions
on what I can do next?
System: XP Pro SP3, IIS 5.1, IE6.0.2900.5512.xpsp.080413-2111

After posting, I tried something else that I found on the internet. I went to explorer, right click on c:\inetpub\wwwroot, click on web sharing tab, added wwwroot as an alias. Now, when I reference my pages, I type
http://localhost/wwwroot/whatever and it worked! Why this works? Beats me! But, I am going to read through your links to see if there is a better solution.
