Hey - working with an older Windows 2000 server with multiple sites using plain html/css with minimal ASP for include statements, etc. Also have Front Page extensions loaded.
Recently, several sites have just quit working. They will not load in a browser and give some type of error message. The Windows event log says "The server failed to load application /LM/W3SVC/*/ROOT" and gives event ID 36. If I remove the site from IIS
and readd it, voila....starts working again.
I've read around on that error and tried a few things with the COM stuff. Not sure what else to do but reload.
If anyone has more info on this that would be awesome. THANKS.

Thanks for the responses. I have seen that link regarding the error and done things from it. One of the Microsoft links doesn't work so I need to get on technet and find that one.
Check the log again this morning and it is loaded with those errors - I think multiple sites are being affected. Might just need to reinstall IIS to resolve.
*Also - the event 36 seems to be the only error message being generated.

Update: downloaded and installed MDAC 2.8 and the problem is gone. the link on the page referenced above doesn't work, but just google 'MDAC download' and you'll get the Microsoft link for the latest version.
