We have a web application that stopped working recently and we believe that the IIS is the cause. We have this app running on a dev server as well as production. I would like to know if it is possible to backup the config from the dev server (where the
app is working) and restore to the production server?
Is it also possible to backup and restore only a single application pool or website in IIS? If so, how is that done and can that backup be transferred from one server to another?
Any help is appreciated

When you backup your iis config your need to save with a password protect so you can restore to another server.
For app pools create new --> select6 app pool from file select backup --> read file and select the app pool you want.
Similar process for the websites.
It might be easier to check these by hand though.
However it is likely that this is not the cause of your problems. I cannot think of any/many settings that IIS can cause an app to stop working. Post more details of your problem if restoring the backups des not work.
