username and password

I am teaching myself dynamic website databases. so i needed a testing server to follow my software guide, but when i try the testing server in a browser by typing in
http:///localhost, i get a password box coming up and i do not know my username or password, can anybody help please .

You either have Windows authentication enabled and not anonymous in IIS, or you need to add Localhost to the intranet zone in IE's security tab.

Make sure the IUSR_yourcomputername account has NTFS Read permissions to the content files and folder.

i needed to have windows authentication enabled to allow me to still use my windows xp professional, it said i had thirty days left so what can i do then!!!! and i do not or you need to add Localhost to the intranet zone in IE's security tab.
