ISS not compiling code behind pages

I have an IIS 6.0 server with many ASP.NET 2.0 web sites. The problem I'm having is if I make a change to a code behind page (aspx.cs), it's not being reflected in that web site. I'm seeing the previous response. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the
.net runtime, recycled the application pool, created new application pools, even copied the web site to a new virtual directory on the same server and it behaves the same. I've even deleted the code behind file and it doesn't notice. The web site runs fine
in my development and test environments.
I think the next step is to uninstall IIS but I really don't want to do that if I can avoid it. Can anyone give me suggestions?

Are you sure this is 2.0? Are your files named like myfile.aspx and myfile.aspx.cs and do you have a bin folder with a dll? If so, that would be ASP.NET 1.1 and would require a recompile from Visual Studio.

Yes, I spend a couple of days about a year ago converting the code. It's the wierdest thing...
