I've been beating my brains out on this problem for the past 3 days. I'm hoping one of you good folks can help me.
I developed a site using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express and SQL Server Express. I've run the site inside VWD and it works fine. I'm now trying to run it under IIS 5.1 in Win XP Pro. I installed IIS. Ran aspnet_regiis -i. No errors. I ran the IISHelp
site that is installed by default with IIS and it works fine. I then setup a Virtual Directory in IIS and pointed it to my site. However, when I try to access a page in the site from a browser (IE 7 with "show friendly HTTP error messages" turned off), I
get no response. The browser just sits there for a long time before finally timing out. I checked the event log but see no errors. I checked the IIS log file but get no errors there either. IUSR and IWAM users have full access to the directory where the
site is located.
Looking at the "Properties" for the virtual directory I have the following configured:
Execute Permissions are set to Scripts and Executables
Application Protection is Low
In the ASP.NET tab, the version is set to 2.0.50727, authentication mode is none, Annonymous Access is turned on.
Other things of note:
The machine has Norton Corporate Antivirus installed. I looked for any setting relating to "script blocking" but can not find one.
When I try to access a page from my site, I briefly hear the computer "boop" indicating an error but the browser continues to spin and I can find no errors in any log files.
