I've been seeing this error pop up in IIS for a while, but only recently has it become a problem crashed my server. It wiped a good deal of the settings. Every so often i see this error pop up in the system log of event Viewer
An error occurred while saving the metabase file. This can happen when the metabase XML file is in use by another program, or if the disk is full. Check for corresponding events in the event log for more details.
ErrorCode : 0x80070020
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I've tried restarting my IIS server, i've rebooted the machine, but nothing seems to fix the problem. I check IIS and the option to allow changes to the metabase file are in place.
The KB article i stumbled across said that it could be that the disk space is full, but i have over 104GB still free. The other issue it said was another file may have a writelock on the file, but when i run handle.exe i usually see nothing. The only things
i'm running the server are IIS and SQL Server Express. No Exchange or any other mail server.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Could this be it?

Doesn't that apply to just windows updates and not IIS? Even so, i'm not sure if anti virus is installed, i'm using a godaddy dedicated server.

It is something that could affect this error in IIS. If this is a dedicated server, don't you have full admin access?

Ive been looking a little closer at the logs, and i notice that everytime i open up IIS the problem creeps up. However unlike before it's not spamming the error quite as often, but usually will give it 2 or 3 tries before stopping. Any ideas?
