I'am facing a very strange problem, using an ASP.NET based Webservice on a Windows 2003
Server with IIS 6.0. I developed several mobile applications with the Compact Framework 2.0 SP3
which communicate with this Webservice. Since a few weeks, sometimes the worker Process of the
IIS (W3WP.EXE) consumes nearly 100 % of the CPU ressources.
Webservice and mobile applications are developed with VS2005 Team Edition / CF 2.0 / ASP.NET 2.0
The Server is running Windows Server 2003 SP1 on a 3 GHz CPU with 2 GB of RAM.
The Webservice is communicating with an Oracle 10gR1 database using ADO.NET (the native data provider
I'am not able to produce the error. It simply happens sometimes. I have to restart the IIS in order to fix the
problem for a certain period of time.
It "seems" to be that it happens more often, if I fetch more DataSets from the Webservice as if the mobile device is idle.
When the w3wp.exe process is hanging it consumes a large amount of memory, sometimes it jumps from 45 MB to 120 MB
in a few seconds. Does anybody have a simular problem? would it be an idea to use the data provider from oracle?
Any help is very welcome.
Thanx in advance

is it possible that the error is related to the compilation debug flag in the web.config of the webservice?
since i turned it to false the problem did'nt occur again, but I'm not quite shure about this, because sometimes
it doesn't happen for several days.

I am having a very similar problem. Any resolutions? I am finding that at low levels it runs okay, but as the number of users ramps up it consumes 100% CPU. Server is a Dell PowerEdge 2950. It has a 3 GHz Dual-Core process, 2 GB RAM, 10k SAS drives, etc.
