Question: Did you install Pro OVER Home? Or did you boot from cd, delete the current partition and thin install PRO?
For some reason, I have had better PRO installs by deleting the current partition in the initial stages of setup instead of just "Intalling a fresh Copy" over a current partition.
I would uninstall IIS 5.1 and try agian.
Run the add/remove windows component, uncheck Internet Information Services to uninstall IIS and then reboot.
Check to see your system was restored back to original. If it was, try installing IIS again

Yes I did install Pro over home, well did an upgrade not an install. I have removed IIS from the system 3 times now and the system returns to its normal run state, Smooth and flawless but immediately upon reinstalling IIS the problem again returns. I'm thinking
my purchase of this XP Pro just to run IIS on my system was a really nice waste of 100 bucks. I actually accomplished more when working with Xampp's windows package for the Apache server. im still messing with it my self treying to see what is slowing me down
but services are not using the resources WELL not visible services anyway im using Procexp to keep an eye on them. System idle stays at basically 99% and nothing steps above .74 %.
I'm at a loss myself but I will keep hunting for the problem as now it has become an obsession to not let this machine defeat me.
