  • Changing FastCGI settings completely resets ALL other applications hosted in IIS

    Nov 25, 2019 03:56 PM|david_bcn|LINK

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Setup an ASP.Net website in IIS
    • Setup a FastCGI website in IIS
    • Make resquests to both websites to ensure they are warm and the processes are started
    • Add (or even remove) a FastCGI application in Server Manager -> FastCGI settings

    Behaviour:

    • All the processes from all sites are recycled. Nothing is logged. Including ASP.Net websites.

    Expected behaviour:

    • Adding a FastCGI application does not impact all applications hosted in IIS.
    • Removing a FastCGI application does not impact all applications hosted in IIS.

If this is an expected behaviour it should be documented, as it prevents stable shared hosting of applications in IIS when FastCGI is used.
