Thanks for reading my question.
I am new to web deploy and want to see how I can use Web deploy to Create a full back up of my website before publishing it.
I did try the steps mentioned at
but I noticed that the snapshots zip file only has the two XMLfiles (Archive.xml and systemInfo.xml), not my website contents
Can someone please help me back up my website.
I am using VS 2017 community edition.

You could take back up of site content using below command:
msdeploy -verb:sync -source:iisapp="Default Web Site/Site1" -dest:package=D:\BackUp\Site1.zip

Run command prompt as Administrator and you will navigate to the folder level where MSDeploy.exe exists. The default installation will place msdeploy.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\IIS\Microsoft Web Deploy.
