  • Explorer WebDAV URL format for Bonjour and IPv6?

I've moved around a few different Microsoft forums to ask this question.  It was suggested that I try asking here, hopefully it's the right place.

We've developed a mobile app which has an embedded WebDAV server.  It uses port 8080 and also publishes a 'friendly' name via Apple's Bonjour.   It's been stable for some time and functions reliably with macOS Finder and various 3rd party WebDAV clients.

Up until a month or so ago we were able to use Windows Explorer as a WebDAV client by typing any of the following (example) URLs into Explorer's address bar:

    IPv4 : \\192.168.1.78:8080
    IPv6 : \\fe80--10fe-644b-74b7-c2ec.ipv6-literal.net@8080
    Bonjour : \\Daves-iPad.local.:8080

However, we all have recently found that these formats no longer work in Windows Explorer (quite possibly after a Windows update).  A 3rd party WebDAV client (CyberDuck) running on the same Windows machines is able to connect without issues using any of the 3 methods so it's not a network problem.

We are all using Windows 10 Pro version 1803.

We now have two working solutions for IPv4 using the following formats:

    IPv4 : \\192.168.1.78@8080\DavWWWRoot
    IPv4 : http://192.168.1.78:8080

... but we are unable to find equivalents for IPv6 and Bonjour.  These formats were suggested as an alternative:

    IPv6http://[fe80::10e3:7abc:5358:3bff]:8080

    Bonjourhttp://Daves-iPad-Air-2.local.:8080

.. but when typed into Explorer's address bar, it instead opens the default web browser (which fails to connect).

    Questions:

    - What's the Explorer URL format for connecting to a WebDAV server using IPv6?
    - What's the Explorer URL format for connecting to a WebDAV server using Bonjour?
    - Has this behavior changed due to a Windows update, and is that change documented?

There is almost no documentation on such. It relies on network packet captured via tools like Wireshark to learn why some works and others not.

Most importantly, the component you would like to learn is part of Windows called WebDAV redirector, which is not part of IIS. So this forum generally speaking does not cover it.
