installed sap crystal reports runtime 64bit and oracle 64bit. now asp pages that connect to backend db prompts for passwords. passwords are hardcoded in the web config file.
from what I understand the webconfig files was not changed.
don't know where to look. I tried fiddler to get more logs but really didn't show why I was getting the prompt. any other software to use?
RuntimeVersion = 'v2.0'
Enable32Bit = 'Enabled'

IIS -> click on your site -> features window (middle window) -> check authentication. disable windows authentication if enabled and test it.
If your site not hosted in IIS. click or select on your solution or asp.net webapplication in visual studio check properties tools window disable windows authentication.

How did you hardcode the password in web.config? If you disable both windows authentication and basic authentication, the prompt should not come from IIS.
If you need to use IIS connection string, you should set the connection string with password like this:
<connectionStrings><add name="myConnectionString" connectionString="server=localhost;database=myDb;uid=myUser;password=myPass;" /></connectionStrings>
Then use it like:
string connStr = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myConnectionString"].ConnectionString;
To fix this issue, you need to check where or which feature is causing this issue.
