Hi, im new to the site, search the forums, but couldnt find an exact answer to my issue. im very familar with IIS, ever since 5.0, i currently run IIS7 on windows server 2008 enterprise and host 3 websites on the server, 1 of them is php. to the best of
my knowledge, IIS 7 can only support 1 php website since php looks for the .ini file in the same location. so my attempt is to run my additional php website from a guest vmware server on my current server. my question is, how do i get my host/current server
to redirect incoming request to the vmware server.
for example if i wanted to run www.xyz.com on my vmware guest server, how would my host/current server send request for that address to the vmware server instead of the host iis server?. ive tried modify the host file, but no success.
btw. im using a static ip , with a switch/router/nat device. along with 3 NICS.
any help would be greatly appereciated.

There is no limitation on the number of PHP sites provided you have enough resources on the machine to run them.
I'm no expert on VMWare so will let somebody else answer that question.

Resources is no problem, im running 24GB of ram. but coming from windows server 2003, i understood that only one instance of php could be excuted under iis.
for example if www.abc.com was running php5 , and you wanted
www.abcd.com to run php5, the two sites could not run at the same time since the system would be looking for them in the same location which is C:\Windows, in which the php.ini could only contain one root location, so i assume
the same issue excisted with windows server 2008 w/ IIS7. if theres a way to run multpiple php instances with IIS7. Please show me the way..lol.
but i would also like to know the answer to the above question as well.
thanks in advance.

What we have tried is creating hundreds of sites(using host headers) using PHP 5.2.6 and FastCGI on both IIS6 and IIS7.

are you guys able to achieve this method using the ISAPI module instead of FastCGI?

This was as part of our hosting effort and was FastCGI only for performance reasons.

is it possible to run php ISAPI Module and FastCGI simultaneously? if so,how did you configure it?.
