Windows Media SVS 2008 (Internet Access)
Hi all, I am a total nooby with Server 2008 and Windows Media Services. I have installed WMS 2008 on a stand alone Server 2008 (Standard) server. I created a new directory for the media files on a RAID drive this server. I can access the mms://etc/file.wmv internally but cannot strream the files over...

WMS on 2008 settiong up cache/proxy
When setting up a cache/proxy media server for broadcast or on-demand, do you need to create publishing points? I understand you would do so on the origin server, and that on the origin server you would configure the cache/proxy plugin for each publishing point. But when configuring a cache/proxy media...

Re: WMS Playlist Vs IIS7 Web Playlists
Hi Vishal, 1. No, the advertisements cannot be skipped. 2. The advertisements are local. We also want to log the statistics & authenticate the users. How can one decide which platform to choose for their requirement. Anything published regarding this? Mathi

Re: wsx file not being server in IIS7
Hi, Jhorra, A .wsx playlist is a Windows Media Services (WMS) server-side playlist - are you trying to stream this playlist from IIS using WMS? If you can provide more details about what you are trying to accomplish, that would really help. -Chris

Re: setting Windows Media Service to allow clients to save a wmv file?
This is not possible with Windows Media Services. Have you tried the IIS Media Pack?

Re: WMS9.5 anormal behavior looping a previous part during live stream
Hello, It is very difficult to guess what is going on here. Would you have network traces / WMI traces that you can share for each machine? Regards Vishal

Re: "Origin server" for Windows Media Services cache/proxy feature
Hi Maurius What you mention is correct. I omitted explanation of caching in the context of my previous reply to keep it simple. In the previous email I sent, the cache.microsoft.com will look at the request client sent (origin.microsoft.com/a.wmv) and look for the HOST hearder in the request. It will...

Re: "Origin server" for Windows Media Services cache/proxy feature
Hi Mauris You do not need to set the Origin server. The request from the client will have origin server in the request itself. Let us take the example below: OriginServer: Origin.microsoft.com CacheServer: Cache.microsoft.com The client will request http://Origin.microsoft.com/a.wmv . In this case the...

Re: Custom plugin for WMS - WMSDefines is missing in Microsoft.WindowsMediaServices.DLL - Where is it?
Hello, [quote user="gyokimae"] Q1) I've also suffered from WMSDefines disappearing from the DLL. If my understanding is correct, This happened in the transition between 2003 SP1 and SP2. (Was this just a bug after all?) From the other posts I understand that this has been fixed in 2008...
