Thanks for your advice. I ended up moving the site to the machine that is running PHP and MySQL, and PHP tests fine in the root of the new site..however, I cannot get WorPress to install. ..I read somewhere that I had to configure MySQL to accept outside access....and My new site is a different IP although...
