We are streaming the live TV with use of the HLS. Now we have device with the WMS-HTTP and WMV/H.264 support, so we cannot use HLS. We are open to use IIS and Windows Media Server, but we have no experience. Can someone explain us what is the preferred Microsoft
HTTP based streaming format assuming that Microsoft Smooth streaming is not supported on the device? Can we use the WMS-HTTP? Is that usable for live TV video streaming? What is the WMV - is that the container format (similar to e.g. MPEG-TS) for holding the

What are the devices you are targeting? Why don't you consider to use Smooth Streaming?

Philips Net TV - we cannot use MSS, since it is not supported there. Can we use the WMS-HTTP for the live video streaming or it is intended to be used for the static content - e.g. for VoD (as a replacement for progressive download)? What software we eventually
need? Windows Media Server and IIS?

It seems that the WMS-HTTP is either unsupported or it is some legacy way of streaming nobody is using, since I am not able to find any technical information about it. The only information I have found is "http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jitghosh/archive/2007/11/30/demo-live-streams-in-silverlight.aspx"...
I would be like to quit using that technology, but unless Philips NetTV will not support HLS or MSS i have to use that.
So is it possible to get some information about it? Where?
