In IIS 6.0 you were able to remove a virtual directorie's application scope (by rt clicking on it, choosing properties and then clicking the Remove button by the application name) and it would then remove the application scope but keep the virutal directory.
Is there a way to do this in IIS 7 / 7.5?
It seems as if now with IIS 7, when you remove the appliction scope, the VD goes with it...it is now completely deleted!

Hi,
I see you have the same basic question in two different Forums.
I would make a "Stab in the Dark" guess that the "New Look and Feel" for Internet Services Manager" is part of the problems.
You can while in IIS Manager you can switch the "view" to the IIS 6.0 "Classic Style" using the "Content" "Feature" Labels at the
very bottom if that helps.
For the questions most operations are the same as IIS 6.0 the "Icons" "Hints" "Help" have changed.
Have you looked at this http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/150/understanding-sites-applications-and-virtual-directories-on-iis-7/ in the
IIS Net Library ?
Have you found this http://www.iis.net/ConfigReference/system.applicationHost/sites/site/application/virtualDirectoryDefaults as
part of IIS Net library and VD settings and structures ?
Maybe this helps with your other thread http://forums.iis.net/p/1181764/1996587.aspx#1996587 in the "General" Forum ?
