i'm trying to setup webdav with iis7.5. I enable the webdav feature in iis 7.5 and change the following settings:
Allow anonymous property queries = True.
Allow Custom Properties = False
property queries with infinite depth = true
the following authoring rule:
users = All users
Roles = <blank>
Access = Read, Write Source
Entry Type = Local
the virtual directory where webdav is enabled, i made sure that servername\Users has full permission.
i go to http://servername/vdname/filename.txt , i can access it just fine.
i map this path to a drive letter \\servername\vdname, i can open the directory just fine, but when i try to double click or copy filename.txt, i'm getting access denied.
same thing happen if i try to map http://servername/vdname to a drive letter. i'm getting access denied.
i missing something??
help would be appreciated

i'm trying to connect from windows 7.the web client service status is started. I tried enabling basic authentication, and now it's giving me a different error message(even after basic authentication is disabled).
An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.
Error 0x80070032: The Request is not supported.

As file uploads and WebDAV-based GET requests require an authenticated user, please make sure that
Windows Authentication is enabled. (Note: You can use
Basic Authentication with WebDAV, but the WebDAV redirector will only use Basic authentication with SSL connections.)
Then, you can map a drive from a command prompt:
net use * http://servername/vdname
If you encounter any error, please post the output here. Thanks.

i just get a chance to try this again. It's the same thing. not working.
I can map the drive just fine from a windows 7 box(joined to the domain), and i can see the listing of folders and files at the web root, but not able to copy them to local desktop. error message:
File Access Denied: You need permission to perform this action
You require permission from the computer's administrator to make changes to this file
on the folder ntfs permission list, i have the following with read only permission:
webdav authoring rule is set like i specify above. i tried the following as well:
-enable directory browsing, and fire up a browser and access the server via http://servername.domain.com. I can see the listing of files, and when i click on a text file or an image file, it displays fine on a browser. but i can NOT get it to work using
mapped network drive.

Have you enabled authentication on the WebDAV folder in IIS?
"Anonymous PROPFINDs are allowed for file listings, but file uploads and WebDAV-based GET requests require an authenticated user. This is a change from IIS 6.0, where anonymous WebDAV file uploads/downloads could be enabled by opening up your security. In
WebDAV for IIS 7.0 we changed this behavior so that all WebDAV activity would require authentication, but we allow for the use of anonymous PROPFINDs for backward-compatibility with some WebDAV clients. (More specifically, the PUT, MKCOL, PROPPATCH, COPY,
MOVE, DELETE, and WebDAV-based GET requests all require authentication.)"
What's New for WebDAV and IIS 7.0
Hope this helps, thanks.
