I can't get this to work. I have an internal website using Windows Authentication. Created a url rewrite rule that turns
When i enter this I am prompted with a logon box and whatever I write I am not authenticated, and I get 401 - Unauthorized.
Using tracing I see that the auth-method when entering this url is set to anonymous. I have tried to create a location in web.config stating that username should use windows auth, but no help.
Anyone else seen this?

Could you please send the output of the Failed Request Tracing to me at liangliang(dot)tang(at)hotmail(dot)com?
Also, try the following command to make sure the auth-method configured properly.
c:\Windows\System32\inetsrv>appcmd list config "http://site/view/user.aspx" -section:system.webServer/security/authentication/windowsauthentication

First of all - thanks for answering, I was afraid I was alone with this problem.
I will send you the logs, but will post the result from appcmd first, maybe the error is here.
C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv>appcmd list config "http://midasadmin/view/user.aspx" -sec
<windowsAuthentication enabled="true" useKernelMode="false">
<add value="Negotiate" />
<add value="NTLM" />
I have changed the http://site to the correct URL
