There is a web site deployed in IIS 6.0, which was working quite well upto now. Suddenly the site started to hang for no reason from yesterday, i have not done any changes to the site recently that may have an effect on performance i.e inclusion of modules,
db operations etc.
When I restarted IIS; the application worked like, it used to for sometime and then started hanging again. I tried this few times, and the application seems to work fine only after a restart but eventually stops responding. I feel it has nothing to do with
the application as even the login page is not poping up.
I checked the event Logs and two noticebale errors looged were
1. It is not possible to run two different versions of ASP.NET in the same IIS process. Please use the IIS Administration Tool to reconfigure your server to run the application in a separate process.
2. The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again.
Thanx in Advance.

IIS hang dumps can tell why the server hangs,
But you must make sure the web application runs in the same application pool are using the same .NET Framework version. Typically you need a .NET 2 pool, and a .NET 4 pool.

Lex Li spot on mate,
Created seperate application pool for the application that hangs and it solved the problem. Actually the problem was one of the applications assigned to the same application pool was throwing exception, and this caused all applications in that pool to stop
when a seperate application pool was created for this one [which hangs] that isolated the application from the one which was crashing. Because each application pool runs in its own worker process, now the errors in the other application [one which was crashing] is
not effecting the applications running in new application pool.
Thanx for the reply..!!
