Can I redirect web traffic from one public web server to a internal web server.

I need access from the outside to an internal web server.  We have one server that is accessible from the outside. Would like to redirect traffice that points to www.test.com/abc to our internal web server (that is not accessible from the outside) to http://internal/abc .

Can the new II7 do this?  Is there a alt way of doing this?  We are using Windows 2008 server & IIS 7.

    Thanks for any directions.

I have thought of creating new rules in our firewall to direct traffic to the internal server, but I don't want to have to create other ulrs to it.   Want to use the same domain eg: www.test.com but want the "abc" directory to be redirected to the other server.

I looked into IIS 7 redirection but it appears that is not want it is for.  eg: can't point to an internal name that is not accessible from the outside.

Is ARR an add-on product?  Would it work with Windows 2008 SBS server?

Yes, it is an extension to IIS7 and can be used on any edition of WS08 or WS08R2 - please the see the above link for more information including walkthroughs on how to use the module.

This is a little overwheling.  So many new term to learn, and scores of links.  Not sure which one I should read about.

Can you direct me a little.  I just want to redirect www.test.com/mp2 to another web server root. EG: \\mp2\ (Which is a internal server).  I DO NOT want to redirect any other part of the www.test.com server.

    Is this still possible?

Do I first need to create a FARM?  Make an directory on 1st server (mp2) with nothing in it? then point it somehow to the other internal server (With rules)  What rules?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

You can follow the procedure in the following article:

Reverse Proxy with URL Rewrite v2 and Application Request Routing
