    IIS Port problem

    Hi guys,

When i try to start up a ftp site on port 21 it gives me the following error:

" This ftp site cannot be started. Another ftp psite may be using the same port"

I deleted the site that also was using port 21 and restarted IIS but still getting the same error, can you please help me?

You sure nothing else using port 21? do at 'netstat -ano' and check if you see any :21 binding.

I am 100% sure that on that server no application is using port 21, did the netstat command and that confirmed it.

You sure that you are binding to port 21?
Double check the port binding in the ftp site properties.

Post the netstat -ano output here and what's the process matching to the PID?

    Hi,

Run this on your machine to see which process is binding to port 21 :

Ok, i checked the ports with the currports programm, and indeed port 21 is in use by svchost.exe.

What should i do, since svchost can't be closed savely right?

Also try get process explorer and find the corresponding svchost.exe, look at its property which service is it hosting?
